ok so i keep wanting to review this place. i've probably been there about 15 times now so i can safely say i've tried everything on the menu :D

located on 19th ave just north of osborn, town talk 2 is an homage to the rideau family. town talk 1 was opened by their grandfather on washington in the 1940's. this place has been open a couple of months, and its a family joint. as in father and son and aunts and cousins in the kitchen, and once you're there, you're family.

their meat is all mesquite smoked, and has a slightly spicy slightly sweet sauce topped after, but if you prefer, it can be served on the side.

my fav's?

the baloney sandwich. the mesquite smoke the whole roll, then slice off a half inch chunk, fry it up, and serve on a bun with sauce. for 3 bucks. this is so addictive. i've literally had it for lunch 3 days in a row. soooooooo bad for me. but its so good and the family is so nice :D

the rib tips - the portion has between 8-10 tips. and they are HUGE. typically rib tips, to me, mean fighting thru some fat and gristle, but not here. soft tender meat that falls apart. divine

bbq chicken sandwich - tender, moist, cooked to perfection. for slow smoking, i don't know how they manage to keep the meat so tender. its wonderful. and the portion is huge

the black eyed pea salad. i'm sorry mee-maw, but there's is about as good as yours. i know im going to hell for saying that.

their side's rotate in a daily special fashion, and their peach cobbler dessert is sunday dinner good.

the prices are great. just about everything on the menu is under 10 bucks. i think they have a rib combo thats over 10, but thats it.

the down side -

its really tiny inside, and they could benefit from some music. if there aren't many people inside i feel like i have to whisper. maybe its just me ;)

the fries - not super crispy, but thats my personal preference.

it's only open til 7. damn!!!!!!

they just got their liquor license, so now i can finally have beer with my brisket :D

i love the smokey flavor of the meat. you can tell its slow smoked over wood, like my cousins still do it. however, if you aren't used to that kind of bbq, it can taste 'smokey'. i took one friend there and she thought it smelled like camping. personally, thats a good sign to me for slow smoked bbq. but to each their own :D

i hope these guys can make it, its such a small spot. but its bright and spotlessly clean and cheerful and tasty and their whole family is there, putting their heart and soul into it. the rideau family is almost as charming as their restaurant.
