Had a great time in Tampa with a few culinary highs and lows.
Had a quick after-flight Mexican meal at Chihuahua's which was pretty good, if uninspired. Had to ask for more booze in my second marguerita, but that may be more of a knock on me rather than the restaurant.
Thoroughly enjoyed Ceviche on a crowded Saturday night. The tapas was mostly excellent, atmosphere properly lively and the service spotty, but friendly. I recommend the oxtail and albodegas(sp?).
Spent a Friday afternoon in Tarpon Springs, and upon being overwhelmed by blue hair and t-shirt shops ducked into Costas where we were treated to an excellent Greek lunch. My wife had the gyro which was massive and tasty, while I had a very good grouper sandwich. We also picked up some delicous pasteries at Hellas and enjoyed them later on.
One negative, and it was a doozy. Without any recommendations or references we went to a place called Rattlefish and had, no joke, the worst dining experience of my life. Terrible, TERRIBLE service, confused hostesses, horribly overpriced extremely mediocre food, openly drunk and stumbling patrons, and really noisy. I really could go on and on explaining all of this, but I'm at work and I just do not have the time.
Despite that, we had a great time in Tampa and looking forward to a return trip. Thanks for the recommendations!
