There’s been quite a bit of change going on, at Peterson’s Restaurant.
Karl Benko (the chef) has left for bigger and better things - but bless him, he's still in Indy and I hope to see him soon (hows the kitchen going?). Joseph Allford (the pastry chef) has left - I hope he pops up somewhere again since he's my hazelnut source.. Will (the manager) has left and Bobby (wine manager, waiter, sommelier and occasional assistant manager) is gone as well, though he’s in Bloomington.
Jeff Heaviland is taking over as the head chef, and we are certain he is up to filling Karl’s shoes. We heard that he is taking over on the desserts too, so they will still be house made – except for that awful German Chocolate cake… , Gwen has filled Will’s position (though we really like Will - he went above and beyond for us), and she is doing an admirable job. There’s also a new wine list coming this week, we had a Gruner Veltliner that will be a new addition – a very enjoyable wine.
So, after a month, we finally made it back and it was as good as ever.
I had a veal Carpaccio with a small arugula salad, it was very good and light. Mr CF and our sons had the crab cakes, bacon wrapped shrimp and shrimp cocktail. Again, and as usual, a big hit.
We all had the Cesar salad.
Everyone had a New York Strip. Excellent.
Sides were the au gratin potatoes and the creamed spinach without the bread crumb crust. Delicious.
We skipped dessert this evening, as I had something at home, but we had coffee and the usual biscotti with the chocolate nibs.
Service was stellar, as always. Thanks Brad!
We’ll still count Peterson’s as one of our favorites.
Thanks for listening!
