My husband and I will be spending 9 days in Paris (our first time there), and we are really looking forward to the cuisine. Unfortunately, our French language skills are pretty poor, and we are wondering how well we will be able to manage in restaurants with a phrasebook and whatever I can remember from my beginner-level French class. Are there any great restaurants there that are also particularly accomodating toward English-speakers? Any that have menus translated into English? We're hoping to explore a range of restaurants while there--cafes and bistros but also at least one Michelin 3 star as a splurge. And, despite our language anxieties, we absolutely do not want to be stuck frequenting places aimed at tourists--we're just wondering whether we can expect to encounter English-speaking staff in some of the great places we've been reading about, or whether we should be prepared to muddle our way through as best we can in French. And we'd appreciate recommendations, either for places that are accomodating with English translation, or for places that are not but should not be missed anyway.
