Like many of the contributers to this board,
I have dined in 3 stars restaurants throughout France and Paris.
These restaurants are pure theatre, created by the striking decor,beautiful people,and outstanding service,although impersonal at times. The food is sometimes unique and sublime and sometimes just above average. When it comes to wine, the list is extensive but very expensive and can be a gamble despite one's thorough knowledge.
The cost for all this is $250- $300/person,
almost the price of Paris- NY round trip air ticket. Is it worth paying this when one realizes that many things can be iffy, the food, the wine and the service? Incidentally, the prices at these restaurants keep going up. Maybe it's time for us to send the message that prices are too high compared to what one gets.
