Had dim sum at Pacific Garden yesterday after seeing the long line outside of Chow Chau.....was in a party of 4 (including my brother and mom), and we ordered 10 items (though 8 or 9 would have been plenty)...I don't know if I can exactly remember the names of everything we ordered, but i'll try.
Shumai - Outstanding, perfectly steamed, 4 on the steamer.
Har gau - Twice as big as at Chau Chau, delicious, also 4 on the steamer I think!
Beef rice noodles and roast pork rice noodles- The roast pork ones were different and VERY good, the beef were good as well.
Rabbit dumplings?? - Appeared to be filled with lots of things that rabbits would eat. Shrimp, vegetables, corn, etc.
Fried pork dumplings - Deep fried donut filled with pork. Yum
Stuffed tofu skins- Great, though maybe not as good as at Chau Chau. But pretty close
Crispy spring rolls - Fine.
Steamed pork buns - The filling was sweeter here than at Chau Chow I think, but very good.
And then we ordered a 6 dollar sticky rice dish, which was good, filled with dried shrimp, but it came at the end when we were all full. Would have been better without it.
Pacific Garden seems to have less options then Chau Chow on a weekend (although maybe there are more options if i read chinese??) but what they DO offer is excellent. Not only is the food prepared more freshly, but servings are bigger AND prices are lower. Total meal for 4 was 34 dollars, it would have been only 27 or so without the rice.....i'll be back
