I love oxtail stews either In Chinatown or at any rice and beans resturant like la taza de oro or Spanish american food on 13th and 1st.
today i had it on 14th street near 7th aveune and i only got 3 medium tails and 1 tiny piece. didn't get rice + beans and substituted a salad ( cheap tomatoes + shredded lettuce and just oil + vinegar/ although the owner complained about the cost of meat going up , I paid $6.99 for the skimp lunch and left a dollar tip and felt unfufilled and hungry when I left and thought about the great lunches I can get in chinatown for $ 8.00
if your budget is over $ 10 per day for lunch and $ 5 per day for breakfast , dinner is another story.
this is too much, even if you make 80k per year after rent, travel, clothes . equipment. vacations and movies etc in New Yawk city.
Oxtails are so tasty down to the bone marrow, why is it so expensive compared to pork chops and beef stews and other meats?
