I need some help! I'm making tomato sauce using fresh tomatoes. The recipe says to use fresh tomatoes cut into large chunks (does not say to blanch) and run them through a food mill to remove most of the seeds. This is the first time I've used a food mill so maybe I'm not doing it right, but I did set it up the way the directions say, however there is minimal instructions on how to use it. I tried using a smaller and larger amounts at a time, but they just aren't getting crushed, they just spin around the bowl and occasionally it grabs one or two and crushes it. What am I doing wrong? I'd appreciate any advice you have.
