Using oven's self cleaning cycle for preheating pizza stone?

justinmiller61 | Mar 31, 201207:10 AM     8

I know its a pretty popular oven hack to cut the latch on your oven to use the self cleaning cycle to get your oven super hot and cook your pizzas. I'm not interested in doing that per se, but my oven allows me to set the length of time for the self cleaning cycle even as little as 1 hour. So I'm thinking about putting my pizza stone in, and setting the self cleaning cycle for an hour to preheat the stone at 900 degrees or so. Has anyone tried this? If so, how was your experience?

Thanks,
Justin
