Recent outings to Gigi, Alamo

We tried Gigi for the first time last month. We were really impressed. I had the wild green-ricotta filled ravioli with fresh sage--what flavor! Really outstanding. My husband had a salad with roasted beets and walnuts, which was also excellent. If you haven't been yet, I definitely recommend.

Alamo in Rosendale--probably the most expensive Mexican food in the area. Know how a quesadilla is usually two tortillas? Well, at the Alamo, it's one folded over. For $9.50. Outrageous. We had multiple problems with our orders--drinks were wrong, food came out from the kitchen cold, etc etc, and then our drinks weren't taken off the bill. I'm not surprised considering we've encountered similar problems across the street at Rosendale Cement Company (same owners). Interesting to see if these folks will be able to sustain the "hype" seeing as they don't ever seem to be around.
