Ottawa -- DiRienzo's sandwiches

Okay, I just discovered this place. It's at 1121 Meadowlands Drive (there's another one, apparently, on Preston Street). DiRienzo's is an Italian grocery store, not quite on par with Nicastros, but their sandwiches are to die for. There are big tubs with five or six types of fresh Italian buns. You make your choice and take it to the counter. They have 24 choices for cold sandwiches, and about six or seven for hot ones. The deli meat is of high quality and the toppings are great -- eggplant, tomatoes, onion, (the usual suspects) and a great spicy Italian dressing. The cost? A mere $3.95. Two can happily share a sandwich. They're HUGE! On Saturdays, they get fresh pastries, especially driven in from Montreal, including cannoli. Mmmmm.
