New Orleans in July

kmnorthstar | Jun 25, 201509:09 AM

Hi everyone!

I'm going to New Orleans from July 21-28 for a work conference, and bringing my partner along. We are staying in the French Quarter. We want to experience the classic New Orleans food stops (Commander's Palace, Herbsaint, Emeril's, etc), but we are on a budget and were wondering if anyone has suggestions for more affordable places. Street food suggestions are welcome as well! We were thinking of going to some of these (I know that some are pricey, but we can splurge for a few of the days):

GW Fin's
Palace Cafe
Taceaux Loceaux
Johnny's Po-boys (I know this is probably the touristy place, but we are open to suggestions!)
Pascals Manale
Booty's Street Food
St. Rock Market
Willie Mae's
Compere Lapin
NOLA Restaurant
Coop's Place
Praline Connection

I am looking for good seafood and authentic Cajun/Creole. My boyfriend is pickier, but... he can deal :-)

Also, any suggestions for some good jazz and drinking venues?

I realize that its going to be very hot and humid. Is there also frequent rain? Any wardrobe suggestions?

Commander's Palace,
Emeril's New Orleans,
Emeril's Delmonico,
Muriel's Jackson Square,
Palace Café,
Johnny's Po-Boys,
Willie Mae's Scotch House,
Compère Lapin,
Coop's Place,
The Praline Connection,
Johnny Sánchez
