Oona's in Bellow's Falls Vermont

I had to put in a plug for this tiny little gem located in what is one of Southern Vermont's most picturesque town squares. I've eaten there twice now, and want to make sure enough business goes thier way so they will be on the scene for quite some time.

Ooona's is a miniscule little place, with a sophisticated but un-pretentious menu that covers a wide variety of tastes and cuisines. I recently had one of the most delectable beef tenderloins with a garlicky gorgonzola/sun-dried tomato topping and stole bites of my companion's sea bass with a citrus glaze and a perfectly roasted duckling with wild berry compote. Extras include a selection of home baked breads and scones with savory rosemary garlic butter and simply prepared house salads of assorted greens and a light vinaigrette. Have not yet sampled desserts, due to over-stuffing on the front end of the meal, but they all looked quite promising.

Bellow's Falls is an up and coming performing arts venue with a Thursday night singer-songwriter showcase at OOna's -- have dinner and stay for the show. It is a wonderful and intimate listening room and features some great talent, predominantly from New England.

Oona's is definitely worth the short detour off I-91 if you're in search of a soul-satifying meal in decidedly un-stuffy surroundings. George, at the bar, makes an excellent Martini and is a raconteur par excellence.
