• Ten Ten Tei (Soho)
The kinpira gobo (simmered burdock root) has more carrots than burdock rot, and a touch on the soft side. Ten Don, tempura on rice, is a basic rendition, faithful but not moving.

• Presto pizza (Bermondsey)
An ok magherita, dried herbs instead of fresh basil leaves. Otherwise a decent crust and sauce.

• Jamaican Stall at Spitalfields Market (Spitalfields)
Ordinary jerk chicken patty. Lots of chicken but other wise not particularly spicy or soulful.

• Movenpick at Spitalfields Market (Spitalfields)
Surprisingly good chocolate ice cream, with nice flat shavings of chocolate for a lovely brittle snap when one chews on the ice cream. A little bit powdery, but overall pretty good choc flavour.
