Love it, love it, love it.
Same food but a VASTLY improved location.
The restaurant is larger (not THAT much larger). It has a nice long bar area wiht 8 stools that overlook the cooking area. There are an additional 7 stools along a window counter that looks onto Piedmont, but realistically probably 4 people at the most could squeeze in there ... two comfortably.
Great, professional staff. HUGE legal public parking lot around the corner. Two conveniently located illegal red zones right near the restaurant for popping in to pick up a pre-order ... nice large windows to watch for the cops.
AND, located right next door to A.G. Ferrari so you can pick up a nice bottle of wine to go with your dinner ... hmmmm .... didn't ask if Gregoire's would let you bring a bottle in if you ate on the spot.
Really, if you are from out of town, this is the Gregoire to go to.
It is still undiscovered by the neighborhood. Really annoying to see people walk in, look at the menu and walk out ... three in just the short time I was there. Maybe Gregoire should put some of his less intimidating standards on the lunch menu for the first couple of months like the burger ... which would actually make me happy.
Chilled Maine cod with aioli & Boquerones anchovies in focaccia or Grilled chicken patty & pear chutney on pantofolina might be more than the Piedmont crowd is ready for. It took all I had to not chase after peaple calling out "come back, you don't know what you are missing"
Very nice pork rillettes for lunch this month - deeply tasty pork on lovely baquette slices topped with cornichons and sprinkled with sea salt. It seems like a nice thing to nibble while watching the Academy awards tonight.
Hmmm ... sorry I just looked at the dinner menu for this month ... looking really good
- Cod cheeks with onions & olives steamed in grape leaves, cilantro vinaigrette.
Anyway, almost on the corner of 40th street near the Wells Fargo Bank and, as mentioned, right next to A.G. Ferrari on the corner of 40th.
