This long time restaurant, a favorite of the Gay and Lesbian community used to be on Sunset twenty years ago - now its in West Hollywood, upstairs in the two story building at the corner of Hancock, near the car wash on SM Blvd. Went with some friends last night for a birthday and really had a good time. Elegant decor, charming server who was warm, humerous but not intrusive. This is good food but not great but what a difference an ambiance makes - great view, nice room, delightful manager who told us he was 87 and worked every night. Had calamari, over coated but served hot and crispy; crab cakes - too peppery for me. I had steak tartare, half french fries and half vegetables - tasty and nicely served. Partner had calves liver and bacon which was truly delicious - other friend had the chicken breast with a bolognese sauce which he was very happy with and birthday Boy had the surf and turf which came with a whopping lobster tail. Very happy with that. Finished with a big bowl of fresh raspberries, ice cream and cream. Excellent. However the buzz and the atmosphere really made the evening.
