Down Nostalgia Lane to the Outhouse

Today we had Sunday dinner at Ann Sather's on Belmont, the first time we have been there for seven or eight years. My impression was that the place has gone 'way down. You don't go to Ann Sather's for nice service, but the service was downright nasty, with food slopped on the table and old crumbs (somebody else's crumbs) not cleaned up. The mashed potatoes had multiple lumps 1 x 3" in size and the lumps were fairly raw, suggesting that the pot of potatoes had been mashed before fully cooked. The bathroom smelled. When we ordered coffee after dinner, we shared one spoon as we couldn't get the waiter's attention at all once we'd paid the check. Worst of all, the waiter didn't bring us any cinnamon rolls and when I asked about this on the way out I was told "we were out of them for a while" (nevertheless we saw plenty of them going to other tables). Used to be a good place for plain home-cooking. Now: gross. I do not expect to go back. Maybe they need Tom Tunney to go back and kick their asses.
