It turned out that Fermentations and Chapati are both closed on Monday, so we tried the Tavern. When my wife ordered jambalaya, the waitress asked "...would you like that with rice or fettuccine?" When we pointed out that jambalaya is only made with rice cooked in the sauce mixture, we were told that "...this is Minnesota and we do things differently." My wife ordered it with rice, and the rice was added latter, not cooked in the sauce. It was horrible. My steak (ordered medium-rare) arrived well done, tough, and I couldn't eat it. My daughter's walleye fillet was large, cooked perfectly, and was very flavorful. We will never visit Northfield on a Monday again. Thanks for the recs.
