Don't go to Nirvana

mattt | Mar 28, 2004 12:04 AM

I've never done compelled to post immmediately after getting home from a meal until now. I just had one of the worst dining experiences of my life at Nirvana, a new trendy-wannabe Indian restaurant/lounge on Wilshire near Robertson (don't know why I'm giving you the address since you should NEVER go there).

I must say we were initially impressed by the decor. There was a nice outdoor dining area, as well as a lounge area where people can eat and drink on beds and sofas. However, that excitement didn't last long.

The service was terrible:
- 10 minutes before we got menus
- Appetizers came 10 minutes apart
- Entrees came immmediately on top of the appetizers and were already room temperature
- Couldn't get water - had to ask several times
- Drink re-order took more than 15 minutes

Food was even worse. I implore you not to eat the chicken (tastless), lamb kebabs (overly seasoned, with no lamb taste) or venison chops (overcooked, despite ordering medium-rare). If you like lots of croutons and don't mind commercial dressing, the Caesar might be passable.

On top of all of this, as we left, I stopped to complain to the manager and had him argue back at me. Apparently, no one else had complained in the month and a half they've been open. I find that hard to believe given that a man on one side of us didn't eat his entree and the couple on the other side of us complained about the dryness of their appetizer and then had Saran wrap in their entree.

DON'T GO TO NIRVANA. PLEASE.
