First off, I just want to say again, Haggarty's is so, so good. I cannot recommend the naan, but the fish pakora ($4.50) and the Lamb Malaider are fantastic. So is the tikka, well if you haven't tried it, they are nice people making darned good food.
That said, there is a new restaurant in the old Bella Cucina space. I took a peak at the menu and can report the following: It's called Nile (or The Nile?) and it's middle eastern with Somali mixed in. They are open for lunch and dinner and offer--
Apps - hummus, baba ganoush (sp?), sampler, Bajia&Sambusa
Sandwiches -- including Shwarma and Kofta served with salad ($4.95)
Salads -- various
Entrees -- including beef stew, chicken, goat stew, shish taouk, shwarma plate, Vegie plate... ($7.95 - $10.95)
interesting sampler ($11.95/1p, $22.95/2pp)
*** served with rice, spaghetti?? and sabaayad(somali bread roll), all made with EVOO
Seafood -- two offerings, don't remember, shrimp and salmon
There's a note on the bottom that says "Ask about our out of the ordinary Somali sauces". hmm
I don't think there is beer/wine but this is clearly a soft opening, so maybe later. They offer various juices, shakes, lassi.
Can't wait to give it a try or hear some reports. I'm a huge shwarma and goat stew fan so I have high hopes.
