One night in Paris- cute/tasty/not so expensive

Hello All,
I did search threads extensively, but this has got me stumped, I'd love to go to Frenchie based on what I've read, but I doubt I can get a reservation. My friend tried calling france for me to try and they didn't pick up their phone on her several attempts.

We'll only be in Paris one night on the way to a wedding in Normandie--we'll be tired and jetlagged but it would be nice to have one great Parisian meal. My boyfriend is not a gourmand like me so I try to find moderately priced food that I think he'll enjoy and find worth the price while I get some foodie kicks.

I loooooove foie gras (not pate, but actual protein served warm) and I would be thrilled to order it as an appetizer if it was under 20 Euro. I don't eat duck, lamb, deer, or veal but love beef.

We'll be staying near Gard del Est (yuck, i know) but anything I can conveniently metro is cool.

I saw John Talbott's long list of places that are "inexpensive" which was awesome, but I couldn't tell if any of them other than Frenchie was actually recommended as somewhere you'd be happy to reflect back on. I'd rather pay 20 more euros and have great food and atmosphere.

I was considering
A la Biche au Bois (but I don't eat game really)
La Cerisaie
Chez Michel

But I can't get enough of a read on these places to make a decision.

Thank you, Chows, for any leads!!!
