Lulu (9 years old) and I will be meeting my father and step mother for a day in Chicago in early fall, and I'm looking for suggestions on dinner. Lulu and I are pretty adventurous, although I don't eat red meat (love duck, chicken, all seafood, vegetarian). My stepmother has some problems with acid and her mouth/stomach can't take anything too acidic or spicy. My father has hearing problems, so it would be best if the place wasn't especially loud. A place that would fit for the adventurous and the more timid, is not loud and isn't stuffy but feels special is what I'm looking for. Price not an object, although my father might feel nervous ordering if he sees extremely high prices (even though I'll be paying). I've done a bit of research on this board and am thinking Bavette might be the right choice; I think Lulu (a big fan of Master Chef kids edition) would probably like to try Graham Elliot, but I worry it might be too fancy for my folks. We'll be staying near the river/downtown, and would like to eat as close to that as possible.
Thanks in advance for any tips, suggestions.
