Thank you to those who responded to my previous request for Newport recommendations. I was down in Newport/Laguna for a couple of days, and ended up going to Taco Loco, Javier's, Cannery,& Fox Sports Grill.

Taco Loco has no atmosphere - very loud being right on the street, but great tacos. I had the mahi mahi taco.

Javier's - good crab enchiladas, average burritos, poor chips.

Cannery (across from Bluewater) - remodeled 1 1/2 years ago. I liked this place. It's large with several different atmospheres: sushi bar upstairs, lounge upstairs, indoor seating on main floor, small patio upstairs, outdoor patio on main level. We ate on the outdoor patio and watched the boats in the marina. Everything was good, but not exceptional. Steady, consistent, nice atmosphere.

Fox Sports Grill. Huge place at the Irvine Spectrum. 50 tv's, most of them plasma tv's. Very, very good Friend Chicken salad. Good place to watch the game, and happening atmosphere.
