Having to contend with being in industrial Hayward wasteland during the weekdays just got easier for me. Some ladies from work and I went to Neumanali for a bday lunch yesterday and we were thrilled.
We all ordered soups and salads for lunch. I had this wonderful prawns wrapped in bacon over mesculin greens salad. The prawns were done just right. The bacon somehow did not add not much grease. I also had a cup of their vegetable soup. It was a light tomato broth with the vegetables still tasting like themselves (with distinguished flavours rather than all tasting the same). The other salads looked great too.
The restaurant is housed in a cute, restored Victorian house with art by local artists for sale. Charming ambiance and service. A place like this seemed more par for the course in Rockridge or SF. But given the context of its location, it's a gem, an oasis of quality California bistro food. We finally have a place we can take clients in Hayward without feeling embarrassed or having to cross the bridge to San Mateo.
has nayone gone for dinner? The menu seems much more extensive than lunch.
