Just stopped into Metro Market, a small, 2-month-old corner store which mostly sells Latin American products but has a couple of shelves devoted to Indian and Nepali goods. The kind owner is Nepali and was enthusiastic to discuss those products when she saw me eyeing them. Of special note are dried jimbu, an herb used to flavor daal, and sichuan peppercorns imported from Nepal. Not sure how different these are from the variety available in Chinese markets but the aroma did seem subtly different.
Good to have another place to buy South Asian products in SF, as the city's options are pretty limited. Location is on Hyde near Turk.
