I know there have been some posts on here about the food trucks in Boise in the past (and I resurrected one a few weeks ago) but Native Taters deserves a thread all their own!
I went here for the first time just over a month or so ago. I can't believe it took me so long! I passed it all the time. It is the sandwich truck that shares the lot with the Tobacco Shop across the street from Big Judd's.
Since my first time I have been back about five times and am planning a trip today! These sandwiches are beyond addictive! The lady that owns the truck makes them with LOVE. They are all homemade. Seriously! She makes all the meat herself. That is oven roasted turkey, beef and pork you are eating ... and the difference is obviously noticeable!
So far I have had the Turkey Ortega Melt (spicy that hurts so good! SOOO GOOD!), The Pork Tenderloin Philly (WOW!!), the Reuben that rivals any Reuben I had on the East Coast (I LOVE a Reuben that isn't soggy. This one is just perfect) and the Corned Beef sandwich decorated lovingly with FOUR slices of the most beautiful and tasty tomatoes (bet they come from her garden lol!) lettuce, mustard and she will grill the bread if you ask
Then there is the sides:
Sure, you can get a bag of chips BUT WHY would you want to?! Potato Soup (loaded with bacon bits, cheddar and sour cream), chili, pasta salad (with LOTS of veggies and feta cheese - I THINK it is feta ... I just know it is AWESOME!), potato salad, macaroni salad ... OH these sides are all so good!!
Sandwich with choice of side is ... $4.25 Cold Sandwich $4.75 Hot (I don't know how she does it so cheap!)
AND YOU GET A LOT OF FOOD!! ... Not to mention it is DELICIOUS! Really outstanding!!
Wait, did I mention the HOMEMADE Bavarian Chocolate Cake for $1.75 .... YOU HAVE TO TRY THE CAKE!!
I LOVE food! I KNOW good food. (I am even a great cook - if I do say so myself lol!) Native Taters is the real deal. If you haven't eaten here yet (there are a few tables or take it to go) you have no idea what you are missing!!
Native Taters, I LOVE YOU!!
