Moving from Yonkers to Briarcliff

Hi, my husband and I are moving from Yonkers (Bronxville/Mt Vernon area) to Briarcliff Manor where we will be in the northern part, very near Briarcliff the town and about 5 min from Ossining and 10-15 min from White Plains. I have been in Yonkers for almost 5 years and am originally from Manhattan (Upper W side and Soho with a little Park Slope Bklyn thrown in for good measure) and hubby is a Yonkers boy who has loved the chowhounding explorations I have lead him on :-)

SO: we are wondering: any recs for where we are headed? Mrs. Greens looks great for prepared foods, I have heard YES to Amalfis and NO to Flames but what about pizza, chinese food and any other specialty stores (that gelato place near the UPS Store?). Also we love diners for pancake and omelette bkfast, and we were hooked on Capriccios in Yonkers for overstuffed heros of fresh mozz, broc rabe, grilled chix, etc. The guy who sold us the house (the seller not the broker) used to own the fish/meat store in town and he made it sound good, he said a young 31 yr old ambitious sous chef has taken over the business with all the same staff so that sounds promising.

Being a Manhattanite, I only learned to drive a couple years ago so am more interested in easy-to get-to places......Pleasantville is fine but I probably won't be hitting White Plains right away. to lurk here, used to post a lot...........................
