Craving mother dough margherita again and for whatever reason, decided to check their website for hours, even though I was 99% sure I already knew the hours. Good thing, cuz it saved me a trip. I was quite dismayed to see the following message on their homepage (which, seemingly, is their only page):
"Dear valued patrons,
Mother Dough will be closed today, Thursday, August 25, 2011. We are very sorry for the inconvenience.
The natural starter we use in our dough is quite temperamental and sometimes has to be revitalized.
We're committed to serving you the best pizza we know how to make, so when that can't happen, we won't settle for serving you with anything else.
We hope to be open tomorrow, Friday, August 26, if the dough decides to cooperate with us."
Gotta admire the guy's strict standards.
As an aside, I went to Pizzeria Mozza earlier this week and tried their margherita, and while good, it paled, PALED, I tell you, to Mother Dough's version. The dough, the sauce, the cheese... in my mind, there is no comparison. And yes, I fully acknowledge that they are completely different styles of pizza... but under no circumstances would I choose the Mozza version over Mother Dough's.
