Mochica, new upscale Peruvian

Philip Coffino | Jun 21, 2004 12:20 PM

Mochica is a pretty-looking place near the Wine Club, at 937 Harrison (or Harrisón as their card has it). Dinner for two last night was superb. We had an appetizer of braised octopus, a ceviche plate with three distinct ceviches, each more tasty and fresh than the last, lamb chops in a cilentro sauce and braised rabbit, in a Peruvian sauce I could not further identify. Price with two OK desserts, not especially distinguished, was about $70 before tip.

No wine license as yet, but also no corkage for our Fevre Bougros chablis.

Service was friendly and attentive.

Highly recommended.
