My wife and I visited Minneapolis over the previous weekend to attend a Tigers Twins game and the Lions Vikings game, with a trip to Mall of America and IKEA just to be fair. This was our first trip to Minneapolis and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Transportation by rail to the airport, to the Mall and sports venues were so easy, cheap and efficient.
A quick rundown of what we ate. A hot turkey sandwich at Key's Cafe with moist turkey, hearty bread, real mashed potatoes and gravy. Hash and eggs and pancakes for breakfast at Hell's Kitchen. Fish tacos and an enchilada lunch at Laredo Cantina in the Mall was a pleasant surprise. Their table side guacamole looked really good, a note for next time. A delicious brat with sauerkraut and mustard from Kramarczuck's at U.S. Bank Stadium has forever ruined me for regular sausages. U.S. Bank Stadium is a great venue, very impressed with it though the Vikings lost with 3 fumbles!!!
Our best meals, two dinners were at Zelo. Our first night we had the Walleye Milanese and fresh halibut. Both meals were excellent, moist fish, perfectly cooked. My mashed potatoes were decadent with heavy cream and butter, just fantastic! We enjoyed our meal so much we figured the pastas there had to be really good as well so we went a second time. We weren't disappointed. I had the herb linguini with lamb and my wife had the seafood pasta. Both dishes were done beautifully, absolutely delicious. The dining room with its high arched ceilings lent a great atmosphere to our meals.
Looking forward to another visit, maybe in a year or two for some more sports and shopping. Cheers!
