i remember an earlier discussion re: falafel and moishe's...
moishe's has increased their prices. i think it's $4 for a falafel pita.
at the same time, directly across the avenue, right out by cafe europa, another falafel cart has started up.
the purveyor is this incredibly sweet gentleman. his falafel pita is $3.50. the falafel are much smaller than moishe's. the sandwiches i've had have been much less oily than moishe's. i think moishe's falafel have a yummy nutty (albeit oily) flavor...i'm still thinking about the new guy's. they are more like mamoun's. herbs visible in there, the whole thing's got a green tint. but they're not terribly flavorful. the sandwich, though, has other bonuses: much more interesting hot sauce, green, a more mild, but more complex hot-ness; schmear of hummus in the pita; the vegetable mix includes fresh green and red cabbage, tomatoes, cucumber, green onion; the 'white' sauce is much better than moishe's, IMO...much more care taken, more flavorful. the whole sandwich has a lot more going on, though i find the falafel balls themselves somewhat lacking.
anyone else tried this gentleman's falafel?
