The Mercato Sucks

Gobstopper | Mar 26, 2005 07:33 PM

Well, I made a sojourn to the newly opened Mercato.
Ridiculous prices, mediocore product choice. I'll grant they have a poshy, euro bling interior design. Very Harrod's.

They didn't stock La Pavoncella canned tomatos
The tomatos were poor, and 2 or 3 dollars per 100 grams
Basil at 7 dollars a 100 grams
I guess that 4th street sales tax is pretty high.

I can't think of a single reason to go back. Lina's or Dino Rossi's Italian markets have got the same products (or more) and better selection. Cheaper. Anything they don't carry is available at the Farmer's Market.
