Take this posting for what its worth...I will stipulate that I was never a fan of City Lights and I was unimpressed with my one meal at Mei Wah downtown.
So I went with some trepidation to the very handsome restaurant on the second floor of a new building on Willard Avenue in Friendship Heights...the restaurant sits atop Panera and Chipotle.
It looks like a typical upscale suburban Chinese restaurant and it was mobbed...they also have a sushi bar.
I was very unimpressed with the food....a deep fried spicy shrimp dish--okay but not spicy, very unauthentic Szechuan string beans, pasty doughy dumplings with a good filling, and a pedestrian spring roll.
However I predict it will be a great success.
Why couldn't Full Kee have opened up there instead?
