my friends and i were heading down northern blvd in east elmhurst yesterday afternoon when we decided to grab something to eat at mazorca, the colombian snack restaurant. much to our chagrin, the place was shuttered. the metal gates out front were all pulled down, and there were several construction-related notices posted onto the gates. it seems that the interior is in the process of being rehauled/renovated.
does anyone know what the situation is at this place? is mazorca closed for good? or is it simply remodeling its dining room? my suspicion is that it's permanently closed and that another restaurant is taking its place (thus the extensive renovations), since there were no indications from mazorca's owners that they were planning on reopening. but i was wondering if anyone had the inside scoop. thanks.
