I Recently visited Mayuri Indian restaurant at 16175 SW Walker Road. (Corner of 158th & Walker in Beaverton, in the Fred Meyer complex.)
I've been twice, both for the lunch buffet. (From 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m costing $7.95.)
I was impressed.
I found the dishes to be very close to what I had in India. They have the standard Tandoori Chicken, Naan, white rice, Biryani, green salad, Chicken Curry… but they also have Poori, YOGURT RICE (which I haven’t seen a restaurant carry since I was in India), Papad, and a special curry (this last time it was a Shrimp Curry) as well as a few other items I'm forgetting.

The place is very unpretentious, housed in an old fast food joint (Skippers, Burger King or some such thing.) And the food is down home comfort food. Very flavorful, a little kick, and authentic.

My dining partner, the first time, feels that Mayuri is as good as Curry Leaf was (speaking of which- any one been lately? They had gone downhill but that was like a year ago and I’m wondering if they have gotten their act together since then…)
I felt that Curry Leaf, in its heyday was a little better, but this is definitely the best Indian I’ve found in Portland since.

Note: I have arrived for lunch when they open. The first time right at 11:30 a.m. and by 12 p.m. the place was full. The second time I arrived at 11:45 p.m and though the restaurant was busy it wasn’t 100% full when I left. Either way- I’d recommend getting there when they open. I notice some of the dishes, like the Poori, are gone quickly and slow at being restocked.

I’ve read reviews about bad service which I can’t attest too. Both times during lunch I had a woman seat me who was very friendly. Maybe at dinner there is a different server.

Something I noted about the dinner menu is that they have a Thali. Thali is like the Indian version of a Bento Box. You get a little bit of several different dishes. In India this would be all-you-can-eat at many locations. I must return for the Thali!
The owners must be from Southern India as they have the Yogurt Rice and offer Dosas on their dinner menu.

Mayuri is currently my favorite Indian restaurant in PDX/Beaverton.
(But as mentioned- I've only had the lunch buffet.)
