Mary and Andrew Are Back

. . and opening Friday! was the big sign posted outside a little café yesterday on the Bodega Hwy. on the outskirts of Sebastopol. There was also another sign promoting take-and-bake potpies. This was another of those small country-side eateries that I’ve passed by many times and always wondered what sorts of chow they might have in store. This was as good a time as any to stop, so I swung around to find out the story.

Inside I find a crew of friends putting the final touches on the place and assembling the dinner menus. The deal is that a transfer of ownership didn’t work out and Mary and Andrew have returned to the helm to the delight of their friends and customers who are helping them get ready for the first day back.

The potpies are $24 each, serving 6 to 8, and are sold frozen. The flavor of the week was Southwestern and apparently Turkey is the other standard choice. I wanted to get a baked slice to-go to try, but the kitchen hadn’t readied the day’s meal yet. Has anyone tried Andrew’s potpies before? Worth a stop the next time I’m in West County?
