Some friends and I did a great, but non-traditional, tapeo last week. We started at Rosa Mexicano (Union Square) for the guacamole, went to Sala for a few tapas, and then to Crema for a few small dishes. There was drinking involved of course and we ate at the bar all three places. But this involved two Mexican restaurants.
And btw, the pork loin, piquillo pepper and cheese on toast at Sala rocked my world.
The question is, are there at least 3 (and preferably more) Spanish places within reasonable walking distance from each other to do a more traditional tapeo? Obviously I'm not expecting that the top tapas places in town are within walking distance -- quality can take second fiddle to proximity for purposes of this tapeo, so long as the food is at least average.
