Malasadas at L&L Hawaiian BBQ in Pacifica

Dave MP | Nov 4, 201208:55 PM     5

Brought a picnic to the beach in Pacifica today, which included some food from L&L Hawaiian BBQ (a chain with a branch near the Pacifica Safeway). In addition to the food I was bringing to the beach, I ordered two malasadas (Portuguese/Hawaiian donuts), which together cost $1.50. I don't know if malasadas are available at every L&L since it was only listed on a taped-up paper, not on the main menu. But they were very good. The balls of fried dough were unfilled, but clearly freshly fried and served warm and covered in sugar. We ate them on the spot.

BBQ pork and chicken sandwiches were only OK, and macaroni salad was fine, but it's the malasadas that would get me to return. Do other Bay Area L&Ls have this too?
