Making One's Own Hotsauce

There used to be a great green chili hot sauce called Craig's, which disappeared from the market about two or three years ago. The stuff was really nice -- hot, but not overly so, with a really nice balance of chili flavors. Since I've just about finished with my last bottle, I got to thinking that it might not be too difficult to make my own replacement, but this is not something I've done before. Does anyone have any good recipes for homemade hot sauce or otherwise have insight into making this kind of thing? Is there even cooking involved?
