Some years the season is very short, but this year it's 140 days, and it began December 12. That's twice as long as last year, so they must be plentiful. They're the sweetest shrimp you've ever tasted. They're very small (up to 70 in a pound) and they're almost always fresh, unlike their larger cousins. If your fish monger will order a supply, give them a try; they're amazingly good. They seem to ship well, because I had my fish market order some when I lived in St. Louis. If you live in the northeast, look for them now!
