ok, finally made it over to Lupa. have to say, it's like one of those movies you've heard is so great ... just can't live up to the expectations.
ultimately it redeemed itself for what it is .. the lower price version in a restaurant group. and what redeemed it was the food - it is very good for what it is, and given the price. that is the most important thing. it brought me back to being on the fence about whether i'd go back.
but don't expect much from the service or the decor. our 20 year old waiter was very impressed with his own opinions of the menu, crudely expressed. the basics of table service seem to escape the entire staff. the tables are crammed together in a narrow space that makes for a lot of noise. and the hostess added 30 minutes to the estimated time every time we checked in with her. so don't go unless you have a reservation. the staff is woefully short in experience.
