Lunch at Shamshiri

Well we all mourned when Habib of Shekarchi, the previous incarnation of this restaurant, died at a young age. He was the descendant of a line of restauranteurs going back 300 years in Persia. (This piece of history came via Minou who runs Jordan Market up the block). I told Minou that we just had an outstanding lunch of lamb shoulder kebab and beef kebab, soup, broiled tomato and salad with their terrific lemony dressing, and Minou said well its not as good as Shekarchi. Well we KNOW that but what is good Minou. She said "Darash??" at SM Blvd and Bundy on the south side of the street. We'll try that next. In the meantime, a good lunch for $15.95 was had by all - in particular, we enjoy the room, the background music and to see the room packed with a happy lunch crowd, must have been 100 people there. Oh and I like to watch the cook through the glass as he does fire tricks with the kebabs and tomatoes.
