Dinner at Luella tonight, little place at Hyde and Green. This was the third visit and it may have been the best.

Appetizers. A crispy sweetbread salad with frisee, jicama, pompgrantant (sp?) seeds and a great vingerette. My better half had a buckwheat polenta cake with a wild mushroom ragu. Both were simply outstanding.

Entrees: She had a filet in puff pastry (kind of a beef wellington takeoff) with Yorkshire puddings (3 small ones) and I don't remember exactly what else. Me, a lamb potpie that was excellent. A ramakin filled with lamb, carrot, potato, great herbs and topped with puff pastry. That was it, nothing with it yet it was still plenty.

Dessert: Our normal favorite there, ricotta fritters drizzled with honey. Nuf said about that I would think.

Service was excellent, no delays, no waiting.

If you haven't tried this place, give it a shot. They're on OpenTable and when we left at about 8 they were not full. And, as an added bonus, we rode the cable car back to BART.
