I had the unsavory task of deciding upon a suburban restaurant for 12 of Mr. Swank's relatives, ranging in age from 75 to toddlerhood, in honor of a birthday celebration. I settled on Masa Woburn. When calling, I instantly felt apologetic. I wanted a 6pm reservation, on a Saturday night, with toddler high chairs, for a special occasion, complete with an unwieldy number of people. The host couldn't have been nicer. He immediately made me feel comfortable about booking a reservation that included kids on a Saturday night, telling me they have plenty of experience with kids. Inquired after any special seating requests or birthday arrangements. Actually seemed happy to talk to me! A nice change from the frosty reception I've gotten at many other restos of late.
