Why I love New May Wah

I love this Chinese supermarket because of the following delicacies:

almond brittle

Poppoy's pilinuts brittle

Ludy's coco jam

Kanom chun (a layered confection made of coconut, sugar, sweet rice and something green)

Tago saku kawpod (the most lovely compound of sugar, flour, coconut milk, corn, salt, taro and tapioca)

Laotian beer

curry leaves

little spherical eggplants

mung bean sprouts

sweet little wrinkled fresh green peppers

banana flowers

shou mian (longlife noodles)

nian gao (sliced sticky rice cakes)

This store is a marvelous gift to San Francisco, especially to those who live a short bike ride from Clement Street and Eighth Avenue. The conjunction of Spices!! and Haig's and New May Wah so close to Green Apple makes this one of the brightest spots in the universe.
