Restaurants & Bars 13

So a friend and I have decided in lieu of giving each other holiday gifts that we want to go all out for dinner one night.
We figured that since it was about to close, we should try L'Orangerie before it's gone for good.
1) Is L'Orangerie truly somewhere that is not to be missed before its gone?
- Also, is it definitely the type of place you would only go with a date?
2) Given the cost, are we better off getting the tasting menu at Sona (a place we love) or someone else?

All thoughts appreciated.
