So Long Jocko's - Pismo/Nipomo/San Luis Obispo

For about 6 years, after my S.O. completes her customer’s payroll, W-2's etc we have gone to Pismo Beach for a few days.

We always looked forward to a great steak at Jocko's in Nipomo. However two times ago we went and were told it would be a 2-hour wait. (Weekday, 5pm.) We declined. Last year we made reservations for 5PM and arrived about 15 minutes early. We were told that it would be a 1-hour wait. Not only bad news but also arrogant and rude. So NO MORE Jocko's!

Last year we tried The Far Western. Great steak but much further from Pismo than Jocko's and very difficult to get to and from!

This year we found Tahoe Joe’s Famous Steakhouse in S.L.O. about 12 miles from Pismo and very easy to get to.

I had the 14oz Ribeye for $19.95 and my S.O. had the 10oz Top Sirloin for $17.95. I asked later and our waiter said they were hand selected USDA Choice I had my ribeye medium and my S.O. had her Sirloin Medium Well. They were juicy, tender, and very flavorful, and cooked exactly as ordered. Both came with choice of salad (Caesar included.) and rolls and green beans (blanched) and choice of potato. The baked potatos we both chose were awesome. Perfectly cooked, and options included Butter, Sour Cream, Bacon (real), and chives.

At 5pm Tuesday we did not need reservations. They do not take reservations as such but you can call when you leave ‘home’ and they will put you on the waiting list then. It required

The interior is huge and reminded me of a country style Outback. Our water, aside from the canned “Hi, my name is Adam and I will be your server tonight” turned out to be an EXCELLENT waiter, knowledgeable, polite, and available.

Two excellent dinners as above and bottomless sodas, tax and 22% tip. $53.

Here is the link to their website.
