I'm writing to let everyone know that my last day working at CHOW will be March 27th. I'm embarking on a career change, which means you won't be seeing any more Site Talk posts from me after this week. My goal is to become a middle school teacher! I'll still be in the Bay Area, and I still like to cook, so this certainly isn't a goodbye from Chowhound.
I have had a great two years working here and it has been fun getting to know members of this community. I really admire how passionate Chowhounds are about food, and about this site. For my parting words on Site Talk, I offer this advice to anyone reading:
1) Appreciate the good stuff. Chowhound discussions can sometimes be negative, particularly on Site Talk, but I think most people reading this would agree that overall, this is a pretty awesome site. And it's awesome because of the people who contribute. Don't take this for granted.
2) Don't stop discovering great food. Though the site has evolved in the past fifteen years, my favorite thing about Chowhound since the beginning is that it's a place to talk about new discoveries. It's a place I turn to when I want to discover something new (whether a recipe idea or a place to eat), and it's also a place I come post to when I make a new discovery of my own. The people I appreciate the most on this site are those out trying new places, testing new recipes, and embarking on new projects, and then coming back to tell others about them.
3) Keep being nice. Despite the occasional conflicts, this community is one of the friendliest I've seen on the Internet. If everyone leads by example, we can hopefully keep this up.
I think that's about all for now. Thanks again to this great community for always keeping my job interesting, and I'll see you on the boards!
