Linwood's is abysmal. (rant)

First, a disclaimer. I am not picky about eating out. I'll eat pretty much anything, pretty much anywhere. Hell, I'd put on my sunday best to dine at TGI Fridays if it means I don't have to do dishes for a night.

That said I had the worst dining experience of my entire life at Linwood's in Owings Mills a few weeks ago. Six of us met there to celebrate a birthday.

Everything was fine through the appetisers. But there was literally a 45 minute wait between the time the bus boy took our appetisers away and the time our main courses were served.

Not only that, but our waiter pretty much ignored us for the entire duration of the wait. No "your food will be out shortly." No "can I get you something else to drink while you're waiting?" Nothing. It got to the point where we asked another waiter to get our waiter to come over, and STILL no one came.

When the food finally did arrive, it was awful. I ordered rockfish with crabmeat on mashed potatoes. The potatoes were served room temperature. The crabmeat was actually cold. And when I took a bite of the rockfish, I got a mouth full of scales. I pretty much lost my apetite from there.

Needless to say, it was a major dissapointment. I've been to Due, the partner restaurant, a few times and have always been pretty satisfied with everything. But I can honestly say that I won't be coming back anytime soon. If I'm gonna spring for $30+ a plate, I can think of a lot of other restaurants around Baltimore and DC that will make it worth my while.
