I need a recommendation. Is les halles worth it?
I understand that Bourdain is not in the kitchen. I live in New Orleans and work in the industry. We have a similar situation with several of our "famous" restaurants ie Emeril's, Galatoire's. I have friends come to visit and they want to go to Emeril's etc because they have heard of them and just want to experience them. I always tell them that there are better restaurants but at the same time they have become part of the NO dining landscape.
I have heard good things about Les Halles and i have read some negative reviews. There is part of me that really wants to go just to see it but I know that there are better places to eat in my 48 hour in NYC (I travel there fairly regularly for business so it's not a one time shot).
Basically, is it worth the price and the trip? If not, what would you recommend for a French bistro style restaurant? Who is doing this style of food better?
